About Us

The Valdarno di Sopra DOC Denomination of Origin and the Consorzio di Tutela Valdarno di Sopra DOC were created by a small group of founding members, determined to support and valorise their wines through shared promotion and protection actions. Thanks to this initiative, participated in by the most renowned wineries in our territory and those who have made high quality wine-growing their project, the Valdarno di Sopra DOC denomination of origin was able to be recognised by the Ministry in 2011. The Valdarno di Sopra DOC is characterised by two founding elements: the consciousness of the impact of the territory on the characteristics of the wine, with the consequent decision to enhance, protect and interpret it always in the best possible way, and the conviction that only great quality can allow our wines to stand out in a global market with an extremely wide range of offerings.

The current Board of Directors was elected on 22/02/2022 and will remain in charge until 21/02/2027.

The Consortium has started the application procedure to the Ministry for some changes to the specifications such as the elimination of sub-areas, the inclusion of some indigenous grapes and an update of the ampelographic bases of some types. The proposed amendment to the specifications also includes the enlargement of the production area, providing not only for Valdarno di Sopra in the province of Arezzo but also that of the province of Florence, a necessary recognition in order to reconstitute the historical and geographical integrity of our wine-growing territory.
